A missed medical checkup can be concerning during a high risk pregnancy. SAMRIDDHI is a digital initiative announced by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on August 30, 2026. It aims to track women's healthcare journeys from pregnancy through delivery and the postpartum period using digital records, health alerts, referral services and a dedicated maternal and child health call center.

One Digital ID, Better Pregnancy Monitoring

Under SAMRIDDHI, every registered pregnant woman will receive a unique identification number linked to her pregnancy related health records. The platform aims to connect government hospitals, private hospitals and medical colleges to improve coordination and continuity of care.

Key features of the system include:

1. Unique pregnancy ID: Links each registered woman's pregnancy related health records.

2. Health alerts: Reminds women about important examinations, follow up appointments and expected delivery dates.

3. High risk monitoring: Supports more frequent monitoring for women with high risk pregnancies.

4. Regular follow ups: Women with normal pregnancies are expected to be contacted every three months.

5. Call centre support: Planned integration with the 102 Maternal and Child Health Call Centre will help trained nurses provide guidance and support referrals.

6. Post delivery care: Extends monitoring beyond childbirth to support maternal recovery and newborn health.

The government also plans to integrate the portal with a state level command centre to strengthen coordination between healthcare workers and medical institutions.

India’s Maternal Health Numbers

National maternal health figures highlight the importance of identifying pregnancy related risks and ensuring regular antenatal care.

1. Maternal mortality ratio: The number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births.

2. High risk pregnancies identified: The cumulative number reported under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) since its launch in 2016.

3. Antenatal care coverage: The cumulative number of pregnant women reported to have received care under PMSMA.

These indicators provide national context and should not be presented as outcomes achieved by Haryana's SAMRIDDHI initiative. The latest official figures should be confirmed before publication.

From Digital Alerts to Timely Medical Care

Identifying a potential complication is only the first step. Pregnant women must also receive timely medical assessments, appropriate treatment and referrals to facilities equipped to manage their conditions.

SAMRIDDHI aims to improve coordination between healthcare workers and medical institutions so that important follow ups and referrals are less likely to be missed. Its effectiveness will depend on accurate records, prompt responses to alerts and the availability of suitable healthcare services.

The real success of digital pregnancy tracking will depend not simply on how many women are registered, but on whether the system helps mothers receive the right care at the right time.

Before sending it to your boss: Please verify the announcement date and the initiative's features through official sources. The maternal health section currently explains the indicators but does not include numerical statistics, so it needs verified figures if your article requires data.

Alongside maternal healthcare initiatives, digital resources can also help parents stay informed. Visit the MUMYU website to explore its pregnancy related tools.
